Okay, so when I open the door the little light. Courtesy light on the bottom of the door does not come on. The light bulb is not blown out. My problem is I cannot find a wiring diagram or a pinout diagram. So, I don't know which wire's to check. 4 battery logic plus and switch Battery Plus or grounds I looked in the electrical. Guide that was on here, but I could not find it. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot. Please advise. Thank you.

Try this link: jagrepair.com/images/Electrical/XJElectrical/2005%20MY%20XJ%20Electrical%20Guide.pdf
Download and save it then look through it to get the information you need.
The driver's door ajar switch can be tested directly to verify a fault. The wiring diagrams should help you there.
Your needed information should be under Central Locking System for the wiring diagrams and Control Module Pin Identification for pinout locations.

If the link doesn't work go to jagrepair.com and look for the needed information.
(I believe that you can get the information from the Forums file downloads under the General Repair topic also)
Good luck

"You can still lock it manually. An easy way to check the door switch is by observing the red/white puddle lamp at the bottom of the door. It should come on when you open the door. Manually close the latch (not the door). The light should go out. Release the latch using the door handle and the light should come back on. If this operates correctly then it is not a door switch problem but a signal to or from the DDM."

My driver's door does not do that ie the light does not go out when I close the latch only when I close the door and the rear door behaves in the same way.
I assumed that the two separate wires which disappear into the actuator are for a proximity sensor and that's the door ajar switch?

I know there is a fault because when I unlock the driver's door manually the alarm will sound if I don't insert the key in the ign.

Unlocking with the remote is no problem.

When using the puddle lamps to check the door switch operation be sure to fully rotate the latch closed (2 clicks). The light should go out if the switch is working correctly. One "click" is the primary lock, it still signals the door ajar. 2 "clicks" engages the secondary latch when the door is fully closed. I just checked mine and all 4 doors operate that way (one click and the light stays on, 2 clicks and it goes off) Be sure to check only 1 door at a time, leave the others closed..

hi , ok so i checked voltages on pins 13-11 and 12 i have 12v on 13-11 , none on 13-12 even with key on? also checked grounds on 13-8 and 13-7 all ok. also 13-3 and 13-4 to data link have continuity. I have run 12v to door actuator terminals 5 an 6 and lock mechanism works fine. The info center on dash does show door opening and closing properly. However when i open door no puddle lamp on door , To recap i can use remote to lock and unlock all doors except drivers door , i can use key to lock and unlock all doors except drivers door. I CAN lock drivers and all doors with inside lock next to door handle . i have so far replaced the door actuator , inside door handle , window and mirror switches ( because mirror on drivers door not working) maybe related to lock problem? and i have a ddm but when i put it in no locks work . I assume would need to be programmed ? So put back in original ddm. Im so frustrated. Any other ideas? Thanks.

I'm starting to run out of ideas.
I assume you have checked all fuses, in particular fuse #28 in the passenger fuse box. It supplies power from the switched system to Pin 13-12 at the DDM. Check the switched system wiring diagram. I believe that this circuit is controlled by the front and rear body modules, not the ignition switch. As such, the 12v + power will not always be activated.
If this was my car, there are some tests that I would perform (ie. back probing, isolating circuits and applying power, checking wiring continuity in live circuits, etc) that I would not recommend to someone else as the potential for inadvertent damage is too great.
Best of luck.

If the B1895 code is still present, that should be addressed first.
From the Jaguar shop manual: B1895
Driver's/Passenger's Door Ajar Output Circuit Failure
• Drivers door module, driver door puddle lamp circuit - short to power or ground
Refer to electrical circuit diagrams, notes and check driver door puddle lamp circuit for short to power or ground
This problem may be causing the other problems.

I have confirmed that with the driver's door open and manually moving the latch two clicks the door puddle

light goes out and so does the door ajar light on the dash.

This means that the door ajar switch is not proximity but is embedded in the actuator

and works off the latch.

The two wires that are connected by the triangular plug on the actuator lead to the door ajar switch.

The Electrical Guide is misleading since it shows door ajar switch separate to the actuator.( Usual story)

OK, im about to give up , code b1895 i checked circuit , can actually unplug plug from ddm and power wire to puddle light and it works, i have no power coming out of ddm to puddle light , mirror light, door lock switch. can power all them and they work. i have 12 v going in brownwhite wire dd13- 11 on ddm . dd 13-12 switched power has no voltage but not sure when it should or where it comes from. Does anybody know? the spc circuit dd13-3 and dd13-4 have 5 volts which i assume is correct. Thanks

You have done brilliantly considering you didn't know where the
actuator was when you started!

Now you are armed with experience and confidence for the next job.

Yes I'm afraid there will be one. lol

So far I have replace the upper control arms brakes and rotors parking brake motor motor in trunk for latch antenna booster engine oil pan gasket auxiliary water pump for heater top radiator hose power seat motors front air suspension lower control arms and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things oh yes I bought it with it not running air cabin filter was filled with water and went down onto computer I pulled the ecm out took it apart cleaned with contact cleaner hair dryer and luckily it worked. I'm working on power steering now I'm flushing it because of a whining noise if not I will be replacing a power steering pump I guess the joys of owning a jaguar LOL
