2005 XJ8VP Sound Amp
I need the audio/sound amp located in the trunk (left side) for my 05 XJ8VP with navigation. Would a 2007 XJ8 amp without navigation work in my 05?

I don't think the amp is any different. When you have navigation, there's just more places for the fiber loops to go. I can't answer for the year difference from '05 to '07, though. I wouldn't anticipate any trouble...

I have a working nav system but my car has the base audio. And I decided to bite the bullet and modernize the car with tesla screen option. I would check it out and consider it before replacing the amp.
Most amps seem to be failing around this time frame and I am willing to bet some blown speakers are cause of this problem. I expect with a new amp; some speakers will not be producing any sound
I honestly don't trust 15/20 yr old amps since the one you are buying is probably pre-owned. One channel can be blown and you will never know.
