Default 2006 XJR OBD II Codes from New iCarsoft 930

I bought an iCarsoft i930 Pro Multi System with Jaguar software installed from Amazon for $121.45 plus tax.

I read codes for all systems and got the following codes:

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold (Bank 1)

U1900 CAN Communication bus fault passive anti theft system

U2518 Missing message from electron air temp control

U2521 Missing message from ABS

B1318 Battery Voltage Low

B1676 Battery voltage out of range

B1895 Driver/passenger door ajar output - circuit failure

B2162 Right side module invalid ident.

B2533 Right rear stop lamp - circuit failure

B2496 Anti-theft horn circuit short to ground

B1987 Pedal forward/rearward motor stalled

U0121 Lost communication with ABS control Module

U0155 Lost communication with instrument cluster control module

U2516 CAN bus off - transmit error

U1262 SCP (J1850) communication bus fault

C2302 Leveling Plausibility error

C2303 Reservoir plausibility error

C1713 Left seat heater sensor fault - short circuit to ground

C1712 left seat heater sensor fault-short circuit to Batt/Disc

C1409 Parking brake apply switch circuit out of range

First of all, how long are codes stored in the various modules? How old are these codes?

I think I would ignore all of them until you check status of your battery under load. A new battery might let you clear the lot out. I have the iCarsoft LRII which has been great - especially some of the service features. You can also disconnect the battery to clear out all codes.

Apart from the (legally-mandated behaviour of the legally-mandated codes of the) PCM, most modules store codes forever (unless cleared using a suitable device).

Really the iCarSoft tool SHOULD warn you of that!!

So you are likely looking at random codes. If you have current problems then examine that list for clues.

I have an icarsoft 930....it clears any code it reads if you want...for sure get the battery tested and eliminate that issue first....then clear codes and see what you get...the u codes can be a network communication problem

Me thinks you resolve the battery issue and let the codes clear themselves before clearing them manually.

As I stated most will not self-clear.

You can safely ignore them unless you have problems.

My car's had many logged (but not in the PCM) all the years I've owned it and is fine. They're no doubt from weird things like bad batteries (it's had 2 changes at least) or from TC cutting in or whatever.

Very true...I think most if not all non-ecm/tcm codes will not illuminate any warning lights....oh abs will

Many (most) modules keep the codes logged as historic data because otherwise many a customer would finally turn up at a repair place and the tech would have no data to look at.

On my car I haven't bothered even to clear the ancient codes as it's working. Others may prefer to clear them to have a baseline.

There again, I was stuck with the only choice of diag tool as IDS/SDD or AutoEnginuity - at the time both very expensive - and it was only some years after getting the car that I had a chance to delete such old codes. I don't know what I would have done had the iCarSoft been available when I got the car. Probably read all the codes and kept a record to see if any more came up. Probably not erased them.

I think the B and U codes disappear from the live read once the underlying problem is solved on their own and without having to clear them. They may be stored but no longer show up as current issues. Am I mistaken on this?

I'm looking at an iCarsoft L600 V1.0. on EBay for $110. They claim that it is an update of the i930. Being the distrusting person that I am especially with EBay stuff I'm wondering if anyone out there knows if it truly is. Thanks.

From reading several posts on this in the past, it is and there is an L600 V2.0 as well, which you probably want to go with.

I changed the original Varta battery (thread in archives) about 2 years ago with an Exide L5/49X bought at Home Depot.

I checked battery voltage this morning and got 12.27 vdc. Started the car and got 14.32 vdc with the engine running.

I am thinking that the codes for battery were from when I replaced the battery. The static 12.27 seems low? for a calcium battery

Agreed. Battery should read 12.6 volts resting rate tested after about 10 minutes
