Default 2007 XJ 2.7D does noit start. Voltage drops to 10,5V when turning ignition key to II

Dear jag-friends,

I have the problme that my cat ist not starting and have postet this in the thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-fault-199607/

However, I checked teh CAN and the SCP bus and things look good to me.

I meassured the Voltage. Battery is new and loaded.

1. Ignition key in position 0. The volatage at the battery is 12,5V. The voltage at the front power fuse box is als 12.5V.
2. Ignition key in position II. Tvoltage drops for the first five seconds to 10,7V and then recovers to 10,3V meassured at the battery. In the front power fuse box it reads 10,5V and 11,3V. This voltage seems to low too me or ist this normal? If the voltage ist that low it could cause the the PCM and the instrument cluster could not communicate properly at start up causing the trouble code.

Does anybody know how mucht the voltage must be at ingition key position II and what the problem might be?

Thanks and best regards,

Martin

The voltage dropping for some seconds when turning on the ignition would be the heater plugs; that's normal and five seconds is about the the right time. It should recover pretty well to the original voltage once they time out 'though.

On the petrol models it would be likely to cause problems, not least because some internal tests would fail.

You could do with other diesel owners chiming in with what they measure.

Martin

This forum is mainly frequented by US and Canadian jag people and the 2.7 Tdvi wasn't marketed in N.America.

You will almost certainly get more response if you post in the X350 section of the UK based Jag forum jaguarforum.com - no 's' in the name.

The UK forum tends to be more UK, EU, NZ and AUS people, where the Tdvi was marketed.
