Default 2008 XJ8 headliner

I've got a newly acquired X358 that is in great condition but the headliner fabric is loose and sagging in the corners. Apparently this is a common problem, the foam deteriorates and the fabric sags down. Someone told me that in order to remove the headliner panel to replace the cloth, the back window has to be removed. Could this be true??

It's not necessary to remove the back window. The headliner board can usually be removed by first removing the front passenger seat (and sometimes the center console and rear seat cushion), carefully bending the board into a "taco" curve, then withdrawing it through the rear passenger door.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks for the info Don. Even that sounds like a big, risky job but still better than removing the back window. I'm finding out that nothing is easy on these cars.
