2008 XJ8L Sirius Radio Problem
I have been having a lot of trouble with the factory installed Sirius radio in my XJ8L. The scroll buttons in the channel list are grayed out and don't work. The Sirius will sometimes cut out and stay off for 2-3 minutes. Sometimes it will not come on at all and I have to stop the car and restart it to get the Sirius to work. I have brought it to the dealer 5 or 6 times. They have replaced the Sirius module, antenna, harness and tried a different radio head. Nothing fixed it. Now they say it is operating "as-designed". It seems like a software problem to me, but they say it has the latest software. Does anyone have an idea what to do?
I too am having the same issue with the sirius radio buttons simply graying out. You can still hear the last station playing but as the buttons are grayed out you can not change the station. Turning off the ignition off and back on corrects this but one should not have to do this.
Have you found out any more as to the cause?

No fix yet. They claim the grayed out scroll buttons on the channel list page is in accordance with the design. Sounds like screwed up software that they didn't want to bother fixing for the last year of that XJ model. As for the intermittent grey out of all the buttons except the Option button and playing of one channel with no way to change it, the dealer hasn't been able to ( or won't admit to) seeing the problem. They have changed the antenna three times, changed the Sirius module and the display head and tried to reload the latest software again. No resolution of the problem from those attempts. I've tried two different dealers, with no help. Looks like I just have to deal with it.
@rocky
I replied to your other post.
BUT, reading the issues the other guys here are having, I wouldn't spend too much time (and/or money) trying to get it to "work" because it doesn't sound like it's very useful :-(
