Access hole in belly pan / undertray ?

Access hole in belly pan / undertray ?
Has anyone tried to make a hole in the belly pan, to provide easier access to the oil pan drain and the oil filter? It could either be left open, or could be covered over with a smaller piece of flexible plastic.
