Default Another Drivers Door fault thread

I searched, but couldn't see anything.

I have a couple of intermittant problems with the drivers door of my 2004 X350 3.6.

Intermittant drivers door window fault. Every now and then, this will just stop working. Then without warning, it starts working again for a few months. I've had the door card, cleaned the connector block with now effect. Hooking up a spare rear window motor seems to indicate the motor is at fault. I'm not sure haw the clips attaching the regulator to the glass are supposed to come off, and don't want to break a clip. I'm assuming there is a bad wire someplace. Can these be repaired?

When I go for a drive, the deadlocks normally engage automatically, and unlock when you slightly pull on the interior handle. But today, the lock didn't unlock. It unlocked fi fine with the key fob. But later on, it reverted to normal opeation

And lately, I've had a couple of spurious alarms going off, which has lead me to stop double locking the car.

So any relatedness in the first two point. Is there a lock handle switch that needs lubrication/replacement?

In my experience the microswitches in the door actuators can fail intermittently and then fail completely.

Note that when you use the key this does not use a microswitch and that's why it unlocked.

Try This:

Lock all doors then walk around car to see if all doors are locked.

If a door is not locked the alarm will sound and you will know that there is a fault with that door lock.

DO NOT USE DOUBLE LOCKING, if an actuator fails in that position you are in big trouble.

Thanks. I did not actually using the key to get out of the car, but used the buttons on the fob.

The fault:

1. Select drive, move, doors lock.
2. Stop, select Park, ignition off, Door does not unlock from the internal handle
3. Use fob button to unlock, in order to get out of the car. Door unlocks

But the fault has now seemingl disappeared.

When in Drive, are the locks single or double locked?

I replaced one of the actuators last year (rear door). It was playing up, and a couple of times got stuck in the double lock. At no time did that malfunctioning lock affect the operation of the front. My assumption was that the rear door actuators are more likely to seize due to lack of us.

Could it be a fault in the fob itself, thats double locking the doors. I'm using the spare, which looks mint, but without any Jaguar logos (maybe its a copy), after the battery died in the main worn one (I ned to get that changed). Yesterday, I did a bit of a food shop, unloaded the car, single locked the car, carried bags inside. About an hour later, the alarm kicked off. Went out, unlocked, single locked, everything fine then. My assumption was that as I was carrying the shopping bags into the house, bending down, with the key in the pocket, actuated the lock button, thus double locking the car.

Drive away locking is single locking.

Double locking means that the door is locked from the outside and the inside.

ie if there is a break in the door is still locked.

Spurious alarms are often due to the bonnet sensor
