We're having a heat wave/drought here in Ireland at the moment.
Its very unusual for us, the green is disappearing and a brown burnt look is appearing all around the countryside. It hasn't rained in about 5 weeks and temps are up in the high 20's everyday.
Not much to write home about for a lot of you guys in hotter climes but boy its unusual here. Farmers are having to break out the winter fodder half way through the summer as the grass isn't growing and there's a water shortage in Ireland!!

Anyway onto my less important problem.. the AC on the Jag is proving quite pathetic. Goes nice and hot but the air only gets a few degress less than outside when on full cooling so I'm going the get it regassed.
Question is as the title.. anything special about doing this to an X350 that I need to know before taking it to a high street non jag AC place? Are the regass points/valves easily accessible for example? Bear in mind I know not a lot about car AC.

 

Nothing special. A good a/c place should extract & weigh the gas, check vacuum, refill, etc.

 

Good luck, we have the same weather in Germany, my Jag has the same problem, and my AC service last week with evac and refill didn't help, I'm still being baked in the cat.
The connectors are quite accessible, the 2 connectors the arrows point to in the picture. Just in case your mechanic starts searching at the wrong end like mine did, you can accelerate his finding the spot

 

I got mine done last year as an ATS centre, for £50, only went there cos I was passing and it wasn't busy, But as far as I am aware, every garage who does A/C has a book or a data file that details where the valves are on every model of car, I had just bought the car and it was a hot day and I found My A/C was not working, so popped in to ask them to check it, they tested it for free, and said it was holding pressure, so would I like them to regas it, which I did, was ice cold from then on, have noticed in the last week or so, it's taking its time to cool down, 1 day in particular, it was red hot in the car, and I ran it without moving for about 15 minutes and although it did get cooler, I was still not happy with the temp, it was 28C outside, but today I had to go an errand, and when i left it was 21C, by the time I got to the first corner it was nice and chilly in the car. Having said that, on a couple of occasions I have noticed a sudden lumpy change in the way the car was running, followed by a definite loss of cold air in the cabin, but after a minute or so it cooled down again, I suppose it's possible it's just the compressor shutting down, but also worried about why it's shutting down, as it's been red hot here for a good 5 weeks too

 

Last year I had a regas done at a local Jaguar specialist. Gas was down on quantity, so correct weight was put back. This very hot summer has proved the worth of the regas, as we have got a bit too cold on some runs. Certainly this summer I have found that setting a low temperature, (like 20C) initially gets the car cooler much quicker on Auto. Once comfort is achieved, I raise the temperature to about 23C and it's OK from then on.
