On my car with the apline system, I replaced the rear seats that have the audio/video controller. There are two connectors and I plugged them in. Unfortunately the controller nor the small screen turns on. Does it need to be activated specifically somehow?

 

It may not be equipped with the same wiring harness, don't know just a guess

 

Did you check the proper sequence of connected modules? the order is critical. then you probably need to activate rear multimedia option via ids or sdd software as i remember that is definitely present in configuration part of the vehicle

 

There are rear multimedia settings on the touchscreen that can activate or limit the use of the rear controls.

 

TS retrofitted rear option to the car without rear multimedia thus no such settings on his original screen. He should program it first via ids/sdd. He doesnt have power on the rear module to start messing further)). Also there were cars with rear multimedia but without front screen (very very rare but fact)
