In replacing the battery in my 2008 Vanden Plas today I noticed that the terminal connector that tightens the cable onto the positive battery post is cracked. I tightened it enough to make a solid connection to get my car going, but I want to fix it. The positive battery cable is sold as part # C2C40568 for $400. Common sense tells me to take a hacksaw and cut the cable at the connector and attach a $10 aftermarket battery terminal connector. The the price of the replacement cable is crazy. But my solution seems so simple I wanted to ask first if I'm missing something?
