blower motor not working
Hi All,
My first post here.
I've had my X350 XJR for a couple of months now and very pleased. However, the blower has stopped working. The controls from the dash are fine, just no hot or cold air. I've checked the 40amp fuse in the boot and that's fine. Anybody any ideas what next to check please?

RE: blower motor not working
Im having the same issue with my xj8. I posted on this some time ago and there were some suggestions that were given in the general technical advise portion of the forum. The weather has been forgiving enough and I forgot about the issue, so im glad you posted. This needs to be addressed with my jag.

RE: blower motor not working
there are 2 blower motors 1 on each side and if one quits, the air from the other blows across so you get very little air if any at all from the vents, yes you must replace it. but they do not go out other so you can get a recylced 1, to determine which 1 get under the dash and feel each 1, the drivers side is a pain to do as must drop the column, pass is easier

RE: blower motor not working
Up to 2003 there were two blowers, the 04 and up have only one behind the passenger air bag. This motor is designed to be easy to remove, you can remove the passenger underscuttle, remove three boltsand jerk it out and test it or remove the connector and test it in place. There is a remote climate control module that operates it and the harness or module may be involved. My first move would be to open the instrument panel closer and wiggle the pertinent wiring first.

Checking the relay is good advice, thisshouldalways donealong withtesting the actual unit concerned. I'm pretty sure the blower relay is in the trunk power box, relay R1. I have not removed one of these blowers but I think only the wiring connector is attached to the blower. I have also heard of more than one of these blowers that has stopped working.

RE: blower motor not working
IM NOT REFFERING TO THE RELAY, IM REFFERING TO WHAT DOMESTICS CALL THE RESISTOR PACK TO ALLOW DIFFERENT FAN SPEEDS, JAGUAR CALLS IT A MODULE/RELAY DEPENDING ON WHERE OF WHAT YOURE LOOKING AT PARTS, SERVICE GUIDE OR BOOKING...FOR SOME REASON JAGUAR CANT CANT A PART THE SAME NAME IN THREE DIFFERENT REFFERANCES, DRIVES US NUTS. JUST BUY IT AND INSTALL IT AFTER REMOVING THE GLOVE BOX, THE CONNECTOR AND PART ARE IN THE TOP OF THE DUCT ABOVE THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY AND THE ALUMINUM FINS EXTEND INTO THE AIR STREAM FOR COOLING. WHEN YOU PULL THE OLD 1 AND COMPARE TO THE NEW ONE YOULL SEE THAT THEY MADE THE FINS LARGER TO IMPROVE HEAT DISSAPATION AND HOPEFULLY PROLONG LIFE....

Great information. If you are changing out that many of one item, you must be in a large dealership.

RE: blower motor not working
yep one of the nations largest in Houston, and that may be a little overestimation, but we put alot of those in. So much that this year when it started if a concern came in of blower inop we wouldnt even schedule the appoint, without that part. Thats one of those no diag needed repairs....and this was the only point I was trying to make

There are actually three things to check when you're having a problem with your blower, First, check the fuse directly with your blower motor. second, check the connections behind the control, this includes the middle relay on fire wall under the hood, and lastly check your resistor. Your resistor is responsible in sending current to your blower motor.
