I haven't ever gotten a code related to the heating/cooling system. I think it's functioning as it's supposed to: I set it to a temperature, and it blows hot air when it's below that temperature, and cold or just unheated air when it's above that temperature. The problem is that unheated air feels cold when it hits me. So I have to either keep turning it on and off, or keep turning the temperature up until it gets too warm in the car, and fiddling with the controls requires looking at them. I greatly prefer simple knob controls that let me say how hot or how cold the air should be without taking my eyes off the road.

Quote: Hi SaturnV,

Would you happen to have a record of the part number of the BCM that was installed in your wife's XJ8?

Thanks!

Don
Hi Don,

I wasn't real hopeful, but sure enough there it was in my purchased items on ebay. It was about $80, which is what prompted me to "have a go."

Here is the number: C2Z6538

Tara's XJ8 is a 2004 model.

Thanks Saturn V! It's good to confirm that that BCM for an XK8 will work in an X350, and you obviously got a good price on it.

Cheers,

Don

Anyone know if "Blower Control Module" = "Blower Control Resistor"? Is this the entire thing?

Jaguar XJ8 1999 blower control resistor

Will the '97-'03 BCMs work in a 2004-2008 XJ8? The 97-03 BCMs cost about $25 on ebay, but the '04 and up BCMs cost a minimum of $160. (No used ones are available right now.)

Hi Xeno,

The part pictured is an entire BCM but unfortunately I don't think it will fit your X350 as the design and electrical connector are different.

See the link below for photos showing how I rebuilt the BCM in our '04 XJR for around $20.00, including a new heat sink:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post1058751

You can replace only the failed electrical components for around $10. It's usually the thermal cutout that fails, but sometimes the power MOSFET transistor also fails, so you may as well replace them both while you're going to the trouble to remove the glove box for access to the BCM.

It is possible that only replacing the failed electrical components will give you many more years of use. In my case, the repair didn't last long, so that's why I fitted the new heat sink to follow the revised Jaguar unit with a longer-finned heat sink than on the original units that fail.

Cheers,

Don

OK...I too have the same problem....I tested my fan by hooking it up to my battery charger and it works fine...I replaced the thermal resistor and still no luck any Ideas?

Hi viper1996,

Your MOSFET power transistor may be bad - did you replace it also?

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Brutal for the information. We also have experience a blower motor not working on our '04 VDP. Our Jag dealer attributed the problem to the control module and a blower motor that both needed to be replaced. The dealer said there were no blower motors available in N.A. and non in the U.K. which was bad news. I asked if they just checked the circuit or if they had isolated the motor to see if it had failed. There was no prior problem with the motor making any noise that indicated a problem and most electric motors just do not go out without some prior warning. After reading your assessment of this problem and that the cause was the control module we ordered a larger cooling fin control module and replaced the original unit with the improved part. Turned the power on and everything was back to normal. Again thanks for the very helpful information.
