Default Bluetooth from factory

Was the Bluetooth factory installed from 2006 on, or did you have to have it installed at the dealer? Looking for a car from 2005-2007. If the Bluetooth needs installed on a 2006 and later I don’t see it being much different getting a 2005 which needed to be installed too. I understand it is less complicated to install on 2006 and newer.

Bluetooth was installed by the factory with the change to the "X356", so from late 2005 onwards. The visual indicator is the additional microphone on the drivers side of the overhead console.

If you buy an older model with the fixed phone installation and the headset in the armrest, the modification to bluetooth is also pretty straightforward.
You need the newest version of the bluetooth module and the bluetooth antenna.
What you need to do is to unplug the headset in the armrest, the plug can be accessed if you remove the rear vents in the armrest, replace the telephone module in the boot and connect the bluetooth antenna. That's it.
The additional microphone is only necessary if the one already installed in the overhead console is not working properly. Not necessary in my case...

Best regards,

Thomas

I don’t have the phone in the armrest.

Default No streaming

Factory Bluetooth allows you to sync your phone to the car to make and receive hands-free calls, but doesn’t allow you to stream music from your phone through the car stereo. Just FYI.

Maybe the attached document can help. Does your car at least have the touchscreen?

Best regards,

My 2007 had Bluetooth for calls, did not have the touchscreen system. It worked well, but did not allow music streaming, only calls. I added the Jagaux unit for streaming, but I'm not sure it's still available.

My vin precedes the document. I do have the instructions for 2004 on, but they are not very detailed.

Question, how does the Bluetooth operate in this instance? Can you for example play music with your phone be through jagaux and then pickup a call with the integrated Bluetooth?

I actually dislike using the phone for Bluetooth, so I've never tried. The Jagaux came with a mic to set up overhead, so I think it takes over from the built-in, but I've not used BT for the phone with either instance, built-in or Jagaux. I do know that the music player on the phone pauses when I get a call, like it's supposed to, but I have "Calls" unchecked on my Bluetooth pairing.
