Default Boot/trunk chrome trim fell off

Well it finally happened. My car is no longer officially known as JAGUAR as the name plate fell off the back. Thinking FORD might be a nice change.

What a mess though. All the clips are so rusted I am going to need to chisel it off. I can't seem to locate how to reinstall the part and what sort of clips to use. Of course much of the plastic tabs on the piece itself are busted so will need to figure that out too. Any help would be much appreciated. Peter

Ugh. At least you still have it, it didn't fall off on the freeway or somewhere like that!

I can't contribute to remounting it, though, I have no idea what's under there.

Yup. Tried to lift the trunk and it came off in my hands. Not sure if it matter though if there are not tabs to clip it with. Peter

Scary-looking, Peterino! I went right to the garage and tried to wiggle my chrome thingy around just to make sure I wasn't coming into to the same problem. Mine seems secure.

I couldn't help but notice the Coventry North plate surround; have you tried visiting/contacting Birkshire Motors in Thornhill? Sam and Jaz, the Owners there, are very knowledgable and have been very helpful in sorting out the odd weird problem that cropped up on my Jags. They have quite a selection of salvaged parts as well. Good Luck.

Hi Robert. Not sure why I actually blocked out my plate number. Not like it's not already public information.
I have done work at Coventry and have dealt with Sam and Jaz. Not the sort of job they like though. I find dealers only want to replace stuff because it takes too much time to try and fix anything. in this case I think a fix would save several hundred bucks. Just not sure where to get the clips and how to remove.

Did you ever find a solution? My name plate has begun to dislodge also.

I had the opposite problem, I couldn't get mine off when I was replacing the number plate lamps. The nuts were all rusted up and started to spin the bolt.
