Default brake line recall

Who has had it done? I got a letter from Jaguar telling me to get it done. Who can do it? Does it have to be a jaguar dealer - mine is quite far away.

I did it myself. Just have to remove the belly pans and check for corrosion. I leave the belly pans as I have found they harbor mice and corrosion. Car is much easier to work on and jack up without them. I have seen no increase in noise or decrease infuel mileage.

Question Details?

Can somebody provide details on this recall? Is it a REAL federal recall, or just a service bulletin? What years and models are involved? As a second owner, I do not know if I will get any notification . . . Thanx

You can register your car with Jaguar as the new owner. That way, they'll notify you directly with any recalls that are mandatory. I believe there is a Jaguar online site, but I apologize, I don't know it offhand. Maybe someone will know it. It might be the same site that has the owner's manuals and I think it is on a sticky on one of the forums.

This recall was mandatory, as I remember, as it could result in a catastrophic brake failure.

Default Interesting

Interesting - must not apply to the 2007 XJ in that case, as it is not listed on the NHTSA safety recall site.

Couldn't find any place to update owner info on the official Jaguar web site, but it is simple to do by just calling them. Thanx,
Goose

Goose,

I just looked in a few places with a couple minutes I had to spare and cannot find the site. I know I registered at least two of my Jaguars that way, but you're right, you can call your local dealer and register that way too.

I don't know the range of the safety recall, but sure Jaguar had it sorted out before your MY. It started with 04s.

Real-Tech answered one of my posts pretty recently with the location of the inspection. He said it was the right side undertray. My car is a SW car in a dry climate, with no snow and hardly any rain, so fat chance I had a problem, but I wanted to make sure I was inspecting in the right place.

I had it done at the dealer and the my indepedent had to fix the dealership's work. The dealership did not tighten them enough and were leaking. Both did it for free thankfully.

My 04 VIN# is later than the range indicated in the recall.
