On the 2006 its located under a door/flap, left side, rear of engine compartment, close to the bottom of windscreen. Press two tabs and raise the flap.

I am surprised by the difference between 2005 and 2006. That location is where my cabin filter is.

On the 2006 the cabin filter is on the right side.

Not mine.

it's on the passenger side

And the brake fluid is on the driver's side

Which may be right or left depending on national whim.

thanks guys it seems that its either at the front of the car, drivers side- or where it should be on mine not far away from cabin filter, passenger side. but looks like im going to have to jack the big cat up and remove front passenger side wheel and remove the black arch cover to see inside. its fallen down for some reason- possible it was air suspension fault as front of car was high and stiff as hell! i got the arnott coil spring conversion kit fitted. i managed to get rid of the fault codes myself by killing the battery for half an hour and unplug module box- behind rear passenger seat-drivers side. i let you guys know how i get on finding this window washer compartment as might do it this wk end. thanks again guys.

cool man my mum has some English blood in her. ive had all the probs that you get with the jaguar xj. ive had the air suspension fault- sorted had it ripped out and the brill arrnott coil spring conversion kit fitted. ive had the smoking problem too, smoke coming from under the bonnet, front right side-that's gone for now. and at moment ive got that dam restricted performance problem. but you know what I still love it!!! ive been looking at new jags, mainly the xf and the monster xk-r, 5.0 ltr. not sure I could part with my xj6, I love it! lol

Hi Mark in Maine. Last year I came up to Maine, South Bristol, and the roads were pretty bad. I really felt them in the XJR.
I am up here again now and they are worse!
I travelled up in my truck, thank goodness ,this time and left the XJR in MA.
