Default CD changer compatibility?

Hi. My wife's 04 XJ8 has the wiring in place for a CD changer but the car is not equipped with one. It's about the only thing she does not like about the car!

While getting parts for my 01 XJ8 at the salvage yard I found an 02 XJ8 (x308) with a CD changer in the trunk. If I buy this CD changer from the salvage yard does anyone know if it can be installed in my wife's x350?

Thanks much.

The CDC from x308 is not compatible with the x350. The x308 user alpine control system, the x350 uses D2B fiber optic system.

You can try this as well:

Shoot Teck4Jag a pm, he may have a compatible changer. I just bought one from him and installed it into my 2008 XJ.

Did you install it yourself? And if so, was it a difficult job?

I'm thinking of doing it myself.

Very simple. Robert (Teck4Jag) set me up with the changer, I also installed a voice module which I sourced from him. He also provided the correct D2B cable as my car only had a phone module installed. It's just a matter of removing the boot floor and side panels, mounting the changer in the rack (4 screws) plugging up the D2B and putting it back together. The voice module and changer took about an hour start to finish.

I'm just asking, but y'all would seriously rather play CD's than stream all your music through the same output as the CD changer???

I can only speak for myself but, I have a ton of cd's due to being older than dirt, I used to own a ton of 8 track tapes. I don't have the patience or desire to sit at a computer and load media or fiddle with a damn phone to play music.

I use the single CD player in the dash for Classical/Opera, but have the Veff Box hooked up for streaming. My kids race to the car to be the first to pair their phones. They hate what I listen to.
