Default CEL, restricted performance, Stall

Hello all,
Unfortunately I have some more problems with my 06 XJ8. About a month and a half ago, the car had a weird idle and would grunt slightly. I thought nothing of it until the CEL came on. We had it fixed and the mechanic claims it was a spark plug. I drove the car home and it drive like a dream. Then the next day, I was driving it and the CEL, restricted perf lights came on and the car had a very rough idle. There was grunting and when then it stalled. We are going to send it to a Jaguar dealer and see what it can be. I am very nervous, cause I know it probably will hurt my wallet pretty badly. Can it be just a coil or will it be something more serious (theottle body, tranny destroyed). If someone can deliver me some type of good news, I'd appreciate it.
Best regards.

Don't go anywhere near a main dealer if you value what's in your wallet!

Find a good independant mechanic and ask him to read the codes and take it from there.

When was the fuel filter last replaced? Its a 30 min job and you can do it yourself.
I had a similar issue, replaced the fuel filter and all was well again.
I also changed out the fuel rail pressure sensor at the same time to be sure. Its documented on this forum somewhere.

I have a 2004 jaguar xj8, with check engine light on and headlight went out , then 'restricted performance' light appears and the car won't start. Can You please refer me to or explain the OBD II codes P1111, P0456, P1338, P0442, P0456 . Much appreciate .

By now you will no doubt checked all of the files in the sticky here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-links-20085/

That will assist you in your search to find the issue with your vehicle.

My first action would be to check the Crank amps and charge in your vehicle battery.

Secondly, using a standard OBD II reader will not help much as the only fault codes for engine problems. You will need to get a more specific OBD reader to see ALL of the fault codes.

Can you detail in what order the sequence of events happened and over what period of time?

The rough idle etc can probably be diagnosed with a very cheap OBD tool and just the engine data will do. You want live data e.g. using an elm327. It'll read the codes and live data. Have a look at LTFTs (see below). Easy DIY.
