Thumbs down Check engine light, restricted performance and rough idle

My 2004 jaguar xj8 is running with a rough idle. The check engine light is on and when 2000+ rpm is hit I get restricted performance an the check engine light flashes. I replaced all 8 spark plugs last week.

The codes from autozone are PO300, P1313, P1316 and P0307

Check coils and catalytic converter and your ABS BREAK MODULE AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THROTTLE BODY. GOOD LUCK

most likely, coil on plug on cylinder 7 is faulty. Don't drive it like that for long, you're damaging your catalytic converter, possibly irreversibly...and that's big bucks.

codes 301 to 308, the last number pertains the cylinder. 307 would be the cylinder on the left side of motor as your sitting in the car. Replace the coil. Do notice if plug boots on the coils have oil around them, the valve covers can leak and get oil and cause random misfire.
I fought codes 305 and 307 along with 1313 and 1316 for about a month. I pulled the valve cover off and noticed the upper chain tentioners plastic chain runner was broke off and when I lined up the cams noticed the lower cam was one tooth off. Put on a new tentioner and cleared codes and all problems solved. During that month, the car had a slight miss at idle and a hestitation when taking off from stop, but it ran like a bat out of hell when hitting the throttle! lol
Remember, ALWAYS attack the lowest codes first. the rest of the codes can be ghost codes from the original lower codes. Its like the code 300, random misfire. Another good sign of mutliple cylinder misfires can be from anything as simple as bad gas to cams being off a tooth or two.

I'd try replacing the fuel filter. The Delco brand from Autozoe is around $10 and the filter is located on the drivers side under the panel. Takes all of 20 minutes to change it. A clogged filter will also give you intermitant firing and/or rough idle at start. Maybe as simple as that and is a lot cheaper than a coil change...

The X350 cylinder numbering starts with the forwardmost piston, which is on the right side of the car and the right side is 1-3-5-7. Mine is missing under about 1000 rpm on #3. It goes away as it warms up. I unplugged the wires on #3 and the miss was the same. I swapped it #1 and it made no difference. So I'm assuming it must be an injector. I let it idle for an hour or so after it warmed up after putting in some Lucas injector cleaner in the gas but it made no difference after it cooled off and restarted.

Is it a fair assumption that it is an injector? I could swap that too and see, which I'll probably do.
it could also be in the wiring but I doubt it.

Note I removed the spark plug and it looked brand new- the insulator was bright white. Never seen a plug so clean. I have driven the car about 2.5k miles since I got it (2004 XJ8) so I suspect somebody changed the plug first to see if that was the problem. But it was not missing when I got it- it just started. Came on suddenly, was missing at higher speeds too but still went away when warm.

It's to protect the engine/trans from harm. Fix the underlying fault.
