Default Chrome Exhaust Tips

Does anybody know if the stock chrome exhaust tips can be removed independently from the tailpipe and replaced with something sportier?

I don't have the answer, but I'd be interested in knowing what you're looking at as a replacement, if they do come off.

They are welded in but with some grinding wheels it can be cut off pretty easily. Been thinking the same thing since day one with the car just haven't found something I want yet hence why my stock one is still there.

I see. Well, that's a bit more work than I was hoping for, so I guess I'll just leave them be. Thanks!

I replaced mine last week. One bolt per side held them on. Using an impact wrench loosened the bolt nicely, and the new chrome looks so nice.
Good luck.

Yes, there is indeed one screw holding each one on, but with all the muck and grit they are a struggle to remove sometimes.

Mine is the XJR and it is welded on so I apologize for the misinformation. I always thought the 8 and the R sharing the same exhaust system.

My bad and I apologized again.

Have any idea what diameter is on our exhaust tips are on our XJR's, am thinking of buying new tips and would like to also have them be a couple of inches longer but need to know the size, they would be screw on.

Without actually measuring them, AFAIK they are 2-1/4" tube, you should measure them though, don't take my word for it.
