Default coilovers conversion

gents,

my recent buy came with coil conversion shocks.
by the feel, during the adventure to get home, they feel terrible; it felt like a rough ride to me.
reading the threads here i suspect it is because they are the cheapest on the market....solid black in color.
of course i have the obligatory messages and lights on the dash/ advisory panel...oyva...no module ?
does anyone have experience with a great quality set/product to upgrade to ?
i would luv to go back to the air ride but an inspection of the remnants/ system left on the car shows broken pieces of the sensors and various components.

all thoughts and input is greatly appreciated !

max

if it’s an 05 you need to pull the air suspension fuses in the trunk and then disconnect the battery

solid black could be arnott (not good) or suncore (crap). i would recommend switching out to used XF coilovers

MaxTorq,

I have the Black Dog coilover conversion from Motorcars LTD. Comes with the kit to stop the nannies, lights, messages, etc. I love it. Have had it on my 04 XJR since 2013 and over 50k miles ago. It rides at least as well as the 09 XJ Super V8 I just got with full air ride. https://www.motorcarsltd.com/jaguar-...conversion-kit
There is also another company I've just heard about in North Carolina. https://www.americanairsuspension.co...ion-s/1886.htm Eddie Spinks is supposed to be the contact there. Comes with nanny silencer kit, too. That's who I will contact first if I should need to switch the Super V8 over. Going to visit their shop when I get a chance.
I understand Arnott and Strutmasters are under the Suncore umbrella, same parts, different name. Heresay, mind you. From research long ago for coilovers for the 04, Arnott would not be my first choice. Opinion.

I used the cheap kit from Ebay, under 500 dollars at that time. Very satisfied, ride is a bit different and seems a bit higher. And trouble free!

The Arnott kit, far as I know having just had them put in a month ago and being three months new to the X350 game, is your best coilover conversion option. Love mine and it came with a module that overrides the air system. No fuses or battery work needed. Strutmasters looked comparable as well.

XALTY,

I've read lots about conversions, but this is the first time I've seen someone say that XF coilovers will fit.
If so, there are some XF's around in the wrecking yards. I guess you would still need to solve the warning light issue.
Are there only certain years that fit?
I do like the idea of a Jaguar designed coilover.
Thanks,
Rob

09-15 no cats, 02.5+ S-Type also works. take a drill and enlarge each hole towards the center until the S-Type\XF shock mount lines up.

the Motorcars LTD kit is made using X150 non-adaptive shocks and springs because the mount (C2P23038) bolts right up.

I second the motion for Arnotts. Not sure why the one post has "not good." I am VERY pleased with them! They are one of the only sets with the module to kill the CATS error.

I have had an Arnott conversion on my 2008 VDP for 5+ years. I'll admit it is not 100% equal to the air suspension but its not bad when you consider the cost difference and it come with a module to fake out the warning system. The air system on these big sedans is/was sublime but that comes at a cost...a very high cost when things start to wear out.

most of the others dont give us sufficient data either.
they do appear to be solidly made.

folks,

thanks to all for the input...keep it coming.
a member (XKRfangs) had mentioned a brand i had not heard of so i did some research and bought in on some "BC racing BR series" coilovers to replace the junk on my x350.
they are to land tomorrow via UPS...(yeah, put a bet on that).
i think i am going to do a yotube video on the install.
on a tip ('04-06models), i unplugged all to the suspension module behind the back seat and, for now, the amber lite and suspension message are gone. i will le yall know if it stays off.

stand by,

max

I opted for the Arnott Coil Spring Conversion Kit C-2290 when I had a Goodyear auto center change my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L over to coil/springs in 2014, and that was the best move I ever made. Actually, the ride and handling of the Arnott coil/springs is superior to the error prone air suspension system in several ways.

Amazon Amazon

Amazon sells them, and they are costly. However, if you expect the ultimate in performance, I would highly recommend the Arnott C-2290 kit. After all, we're talking about a premium luxury car like the Jaguar.

Best price I found for the Arnotts was Rock Auto.

my BC racing coilovers are here.
i believe a question about them is answered with a label on the sides; to the effect of being "gas charged"...i take this to mean oil and nitrogen.
by appearances they are of very nice quality construction.
i bought these thru springrates.com ...they dropped the ball initially but a few follow up emails and "sean" (owner?) came thru...now i am waiting on the missing adjustment extenders that were suppose to be included... i will follow up as to the completed order and installation...more importantly the test drive !
