Default Did Arnott Conversion and Very Happy

2004 XJ8 38000 miles
just want to give my conversion experience ,I decided to do the Arnott coil conversion, paid $1100 for the kit and had a independent install for $400,i am very happy with the results, the ride is very close to the air system and no more dash lights and worrying,i was getting lights everyday and didn't want to start putting $$ in a failing system instead I put the money in the kit, would like to know anyones experience that did the conversion

Hello goldgun,

Glad for you,

I did my own job recently for 2 front air suspension and rear right w/"Bilstein" original struts
just in order not to have all errors from cat's computers as it's not a genuine struts, from one hand, and
to keep and enjoy the air suspension as BMW, MERC., BENTLEY, ROLLS etc. from the other.

You can also follow the photos attached...

And... a week ago I completed the 4 yrs necessary action and place 4 x Pirelli" P-ZERO 255/40R19 AO XL 100Y
and now I can definitely tell you that heaven is right here !!!

And :

Happy Friday the 13th all...

I did the conversion on my old car and was very happy with it as well. The only issue I had was losing the self-leveling rear feature. On the rare occasions that I had rear passengers, the rear of the car would sag and sometimes bottom out over bumps.

Hello XJ8JR,
I too am happy with the conversion. Mine sits slightly higher than original but has settled down. What did you do with the connecting air and electric lines that supplied/controlled the original shocks? Thanks.

I think I just tied the lines and such out of the way. Can't recall exactly.

Jagman Dan, I have continued to replace air suspension parts on my 2004 Jaguar XJ VDP. I am looking for the pigtail with the plug that inserts into of the front air strut. It is a 2 conductor plug made by tyco with #1394263-1 visible on end. Mine is cracked and I read you were looking for some thing to do with your loose wires. I could splice one of yours in and show that plug a good home.

Please PM me if you can help a fellow Jaguar enthusiast out

I had the coils done and the car drives like a dream. My mechanic told me in the midwest it is the best decision I could have ever made. I have all new suspension parts and brand new Sumitomos which I am very happy with so far and I am super picky about tires--I put some on a work van that had michelins and couldn't believe the ride quality so for $500 bucks I said why not. I don't usually leave the tire shop without spending a grand. Happy New year and happy jagging!

My car had 19 inch Sumitomos on it when purchased. After rebuilding the entire suspension I was bragging on them.
Then after about 3,000 miles I looked and all four were worn slick. No edge wear, cupping, or other issues. Just no tread. It scared me to think all were almost down to the belts.
I decided to spend a little more on replacements.

Did you remove the air compressor fuse from the fusebox after converting?
