Talking Color Codes

Hi Guys, my son's new (to us) XJ doesn't seem to have an Id plate where it is supposed to be - in the driver's door jamb. I've looked under the hood and
around all the doors and I can't seem to find the plate that has the color codes for the paint and trim. The VIN is all over the place, and all the other info
on tire pressure, etc, but no trim codes. I've tried VIN decoders and they all seem to give me everything except the trim codes. Does anybody know of a
VIN decoder that will actually tell me my trim codes (and not a list of all of them), or maybe there is a plate somewhere ? This seems bizarre ?

Attach photos of the paint and trim and we can probably work it out between us.

You can also contact a dealer with the VIN and they will be able to look it up

along with any servicing and repairs they have done in the past but your son

will probably have to prove ownership to get that info.

https://www.autodna.com gave the correct colour code and trim for my x-type.

[EDIT] I found another one with a more extensive list of trim options: https://cars-info.eu

Jaguar USA will not detail work done by their dealers. This service is available outside the US. My car was serviced by the local Jaguar dealer (according to CarFax) in NJ. I know there was work on the cooling system two years ago, work on the transmission three years ago, and suspension work a year ago. But Jaguar does not give details on the work. Bit of a pain. Did they reflash the transmission or change the fluid?

Isn't it adhered to the left-hand front door hinge post on the X350 and not next to the door lock like it is on other models?

If it's missing, that would set serious alarm bells ringing for me.

There is sticker on the front left-hand door hinge post, and it looks just like the one on my XK with the "jaguar Cars" background print. It is blank however. I sent an email to Jaguar NA and got an auto response back saying they would reply within one business day, that was last Thursday. It does bother me now that the sticker is blank. Of course the Carfax said the car had never been in an accident. I'm pretty sure the color is Ultimate Black Pearl (PEL) and the interior is cashmere, just a bother.

I was referring to your local jaguar dealer.

There is a way to get the colour info from the dash screen also from the VIN

A Jaguar dealer here in Belgium was friendly enough to provide us with a list of specifications and original options for.our car specifically, but the field for last recorded service/maintenance said "none recorded" (although we have a number of invoices of maintenance by Jaguar dealers from 2007 to 2014). It would be nice if there was a national (or even an international) record of service and maintenance, but I think it's normal that you can only get that information if you know where the car gets/got serviced. Individual dealers probably do keep a record.

That's the one.

The vehicle specific printing does come off if these are aggressively cleaned. I've seen a lot of faded looking Jaguar labels and a couple that just looked like a blank label. Yours doesn't sound suspicious.

Any Jaguar Dealer can look up your vehicle build specification from the VIN. I always get a printout for mine from my local dealer. The one for my current XK covers four A4 pages and lists everything apart from the key code.

Jaguar stopped using paper Service History books in 2014. Service History is now completely online for later vehicles.

www.jaguar.com/owners_international/caring-for-your-jaguar/online_service_history.html

The history is available to the vehicle owner and all Jaguar Dealers.

It can be viewed and/or printed from anywhere.

Default Color Codes

Just wanted to report back that Jaguar NA did send me a reply with all the trim codes in detail. Our leather is Barley (SEL) with charcoal (LEG) and the
paint is Ultimate Black or Ultimate Black Pearl (PEL). Good info to have.
