Default Compatible Brake Hose?

Anyone know of a compatible brake hose for a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 Rear Left? Centric 150.20314 go for $25 all day but are out of stock everywhere. The dealer hose is $100+.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a hose from another car that fits. Maybe off of a Ford from around that year while the two companies were in bed together? Brake line fittings are pretty much the same and where it connects to the caliper is pretty much the same on most cars.

Just want to get my lady back on the road without being ripped off for almost $80.

If it's the one that goes from calliper to body there about £30 over in England might be worth trying a uk dealer

you could always call a few wrecking yards; even rockauto.com was out of the centrics! Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is who I use.
I've seen people take one to a hydraulic shop and have one made too...
or ask if they give a club discount at the dealer, I find most of them usually have some discount for something I can claim.

I'm going to try the custom made route, there's a place right near my house. And I was a bit off on the dealer price, it's $178! I'll report in with a conclusion on Monday. And not to ignore clifton94, I just didn't want to wait on the shipping, she's my daily driver.

Never buy brake lines or hoses second hand. Too dangerous as they are as old as what you have and have been in the climate and rotting as much as yours. SNG has the lines you need and for and upgrade there are stainless reinforced lines that are used on performance equipment. You still should replace every 4-5 yrs. to make sure you can stop. $100 or so occasionally is good for the stop that will keep your family safe.

do you mean replace brake lines every 4-5 years? I don't think so with modern materials.

All rubber hoses, coolant, oil, trans, should be replaced 4-5 yrs. Rubber rots from the inside because of moisture and heat faster than the weather, ozone, heat and wear from the outside. Brake fluid accumulates water and speeds up the interior rotting process. Yes, 4-5 yrs. on brake hydraulics. Your family and the car in front of you depends on it.

My Lexus is fifteen years old and still has original hoses on it and they still look like new ,still on original bulbs as well fantastic car . The only car I see was a rover that advices you to change all brake hoses ,seals and that was about thirty years ago but if it is in new car manuals then I stand corrected . I'm a mechanic by trade so I change my brake fluid and anti freeze every two years and really look after my cars ( pamper ) so if a owner was the type not to look after his car then changing rubber components maybe a good idea

Well I had the hose repaired at a local hydraulic line and hose shop. He remade it with the same braided type hose that the factory used with slightly different crimpings. Had it done in 1.5 hours and for $38.42 with tax and all. The ends were all pointing the right way and he even threw in 2 new copper washers. I did, of course, forget to take a picture of the new hose.

The old hose failed because it was rubbing against a bit of the suspension. It is a clip on top of the upper "A-arm" that connects to a small rod that connects to a rubber bushing that seems to connect to nothing. I do remember asking myself "What does that even do?" Well, what it does is wear holes in perfectly good break hoses.

Thanks for the input all. Oh, and before you suggest it, I checked the other side, it has good clearance from that clip.
