Default Coolant Loss

I have a mysterious coolant leak, XJ 2007 2.7L V6. I connected a coolant pressure device, and found water pouring out from the rear of the underneath engine cover, removing this I found the water flowing from the back of the engine, no visible leaks from the front. It looks to be from the upper area of the engine rear to gearbox, but I was unable to see from under the car.

It appears I need to remove quite a number of devices, cables and connectors from the rear top of the enging to get to the area where I believe the problem is? My question:- Does the V6 2.7 Diesel have valley pipes similar setup to those of the earlier XJ X308 engines? If so, does anyone have any advice on how to get to these to do repairs/diagnose where the leak is? I am hoping I can access the area without draining the system, so that I can reapply the pressure to locate the exact problem area(s).

If not the same as the X308, can anyone suggest where it could be leaking from at the top rear of the engine please. I simply cannot see from the top or from under the car where this leak is. I have lots of experience with the X308 but never delved into the XJ6 apart from general servicing.
Thanks in anticipation, I appreciate any help offered...
Paul

I assume it is a leaking valley hose if there is water coming from the rear of the engine.
I have never had to do this repair myself but you will need to remove the inlet manifold to replace the hose.

Known place where these engines leak towads the rear left side of engine especially when warm and down the hoses towards auto tranny .
just behind servo oilpump and climate pump in the front is the coolant inlet to the engine. Crap piece of plastic with one bigger O ring just held by two screws . Left side of engine.
You will not be able to see it without camera.
I will post a picture if I find it

The Diesel engine is a totally different beast from the petrol engines, so I do not see any possibiltiy of comparison with the X308, which did not have a Diesel.

If there is no help from the forum here, you might try a search in Peugeot/Citroen, Ford and Land Rover forums, as the engine was a joint development by Ford, incl. JLR, and Peugeot/Citroen. It was used for all the brands mentioned.

Apart from this, here's what I have found in the workshop manual:

If I interpret it correctly, there should not be any valley hose on the Diesel engine, but there seems to be a hose at the back of the engine, running between the gas recirculation coolers (items 7 and 8 in the picture).

Best regards,

Thomas

As posted above the US did not get any Diesels so this forum has little to no information concerning Diesels.

BUT there is a UK forum with a bunch of great guys on it and they DID get the Diesel and they have all kinds of threads on them.
Take a look and I bet you will find your problem is a common one and there will be solutions posted.
UK Jaguar Forum

I am a member of both forums and it is a great resource.
