Default Correct Method to Remove Fuel Line from Fuel Pump in 2004 Xj8

Hi guys,

I am working through what appears to be a fuel pump related issue on my 2004 XJ8 and I want to check with the community to be sure I know the correct way to remove the fuel line attached to the top of the pump assembly to facilitate removal, as seen below:

Fuel line in situ.

Please let me know how best to detach this connection, so I can (hopefully) get my car back on the road this weekend. Many thanks in advance.

Andy

Ideally you need a fuel line disconnect tool!
Measure fitting so you get the correct one.

You just need a screw driver to push in the tab and you pull it off.
Its as simple as that
I didn't need to use any special tool

Think that one should, release with your finger, there's a similar looking one under the hood.

Hello, I did what you said and my fuel line connector broke, next time it will be nice if you show a pic of how 2, so nobody go to the same trouble. Thanks

Hi Eduardo,

Very sorry to hear that your fuel connector broke. Didn't really think there was a need for a photo.

That particular fitting definitely looks like one you squeeze with your fingers to release but best to first remove fuel relay and run/crank engine till it dies to minimize fuel pressure on the joint before disassembly.
