Default Cruise malfunction

Started up my XJ 350 VDP after being on vacation abroad for 2 weeks and got a 'cruise malfunction' warning light. Engine also seemed to be rough running. However, after driving it a few hundred yards, turning it off and restarting, all was back to normal; cruise works and it drives fine. Problem has not reoccured. Should I be worried?

sounds like the battery was low and it's now recharged. I would check standing voltage and have the battery load tested to be 100% sure.

+1 on the battery charge having diminished while the car was sitting. Our '04 can trip all sorts of extraneous DTCs if it sits for several days without being started.

Cheers,

Don

+2 on the battery.
I work a 21 day schedule and have seen this on mine as well. Now I put a charger on for an hour before I start the car and don't see the "cruise not available" message anymore.

Thanks Don and Chadmc5c, I'll get the garage to load test the battery next time I take it in.

+1 more on the battery. I was getting that as well as radio not turning on our phone not connecting. Changed original battery last year and not had any more issues.

+4 on the battery. Just keep it on a battery tender if it is going to sit.
