Hey all, I'm curious and hoping someone may have an idea what the "CONFIG R" error message means on a 2004 XJ8.

I went out to go start the car up and head to the gas station, but as soon as the engine turned over it turned itself off with the red and amber lights flashing and "CONFIG R" shown on the dash.

I'm pretty worried and I'm not sure where to go at this point, I've made sure the battery is full and I've done the disconnect/hard reset already to see if maybe it was a voltage thing but it's not looking good.


I have access to SDD if this is a matter of having a module flashed or reprogrammed, but at this point I'm worried I may make things worse without a bit more input. Thank you.

 

Config R is a corrupt config in the REM "Rear electronic module"
You need to reflash it using SDD

I reflashed the REM using SDD and she fired right up with no errors.
