I'm recharging my air cooling system, and online sources say that the 2004 XJ8 comes in one model with the AC in the engine compartment, which takes 650g of R134a; and a model with the AC in the rear, which takes 800g of R134a.
I don't even know what the AC looks like. How can I tell which model I have?

Hi Xeno,
Some LWB (long wheelbase) X350 and X358 cars have an extra air conditioning system for the rear passengers. If so, there is a separate control panel in the rear of the center console for them to adjust their own temperatures. If you haven't got a long wheelbase car with rear (aka 4-zone) aircon then the 650g figure is for you.
Mine does have the rear aircon, so I will need to use the 800g amount.

When you say "separate control panel in the rear of the center console for them to adjust their own temperatures," do you mean there are controls to set a different target temperature, or just vent controls?
What I have is rear vent controls, shown in the picture below:

No rear AC in this car.

Yep, nor rear A/C. With the rear A/C, it would look like this:

Best regards,
