Angry Disappointed to find this when I pulled the tire off...

I pulled my right rear tire off this morning to swap out the wheel speed sensor, and it was more difficult than it should have been. Here's why. So disappointed to see this. What self-respecting home/shadetree/professional mechanic would do this? When my indy shop put on tires for me, why didn't they even mention it in passing? Sigh. Not surprised though. Since I got the car I've found evidence of shoddy work done in the past.

I'm puzzled. Why should this take longer than usual to pull the wheel? They all look intact, and the same socket size....right?

Intact - yes.
Same Size - not to MY tools, at least.

The different key size is silly but not decisive. The two wheel nuts on the right are too short and it is likely that they tighten against the wheel bolt but do not reach the seat in the rim. The result is that the wheel is fixed with only three wheel bolts.

I would check all other wheel bolts and change the workshop.

A set of aftermarket Toyota lug nuts will fix things.
Cost of a couple Jaguar lug nuts will cover the price.
Different size socket, but all the four ways in my garage fit.

Can't seem to find the reciept, from where i bought mine.
Just googled them, & got a set of 20 for around $20 or so.
Not genuine Toyota's, & some of the chrome was flawed.
