Default Drive cycle... unable to complete 2003 XJ8

Months ago my mechanic cleared the codes and reset the drive cycle on my 2003 XJ8. In NY State it won't pass inspection until that's been completed. I looked up what specific types of driving marks I would need to complete but it still hasn't cleared. It's been months and months now AND my XJ8 is way past due for an inspection. I'm completely out of ideas at this point... any information or things I could try would be much appreciated!!!!!

First of all welcome to forum! You will find wealth of information here!
Someone here will give you more technical advise. However, it may take a month to complete the cycle. More like two tanks of gas. How can your car achieve that if you are not permitted to drive it?
On a different side: I can share a wisdom I learned: "If something makes you unhappy(causing problems) get rid of it!." Move to state where there is no state inspection! !
Another way to say the same thing: "if drinking interfere with your work performance, it is time to quit working!"
I am sure there is a redneck's version of this wisdom

A North American 2003 MY XJ8 has the 4.0 engine and is considered X308. (not X350)
If your car is an X308, you are posting in the wrong forum section and will likely get better responses posting in the X308 section.
