Ok as with most i guess my drivers seat when turning off the car drops down and slides right back i guess making getting in and out easier, problem is for me it doesnt, in fact its a bloody nuisance is there a way this can be turned off so the seat just stays where it is

 

Yes, just turn the round knob on the left side of the steering column to "column". This deactivates the entry/exit mode.

 

Wow how easy a solution is that, many many thanks, you may well have saved my back for christmas

 

That solution may leave the steering wheel in a position that is too low for easy access. The other option is to create a easy access position using the seat memory function, say memory 3.

 

After disconnecting the battery, then setting everything the way you want, i just leave the memory button alone.
Like Mark said set the switch on the column, & things will stay where you left them.
The less one uses all the seat motors, the longer they last.
When & if the seat motors no longer work, your in a fix.
Bells & whistles are great when they work properly, not so much when they don't.

 

I have setting 1 for my preferred seating height, pedal reach, back and seat tilts, etc. MY wife has 2 set for her preferences. I set 3 when I had knee surgety to go all the way back, lift the seat to a good exit position have left it there for 2 years. When I have those days that I'm feeling my age and creaking, it is a good egress setting. Then I hit 1 and off I go.
