Default Easy exit seat feature is not working

04' XJ8 with 102,000 miles. The issue is the seat no longer moves back when the door is open and of course doesn't move forward when the door is closed.

the switch on the left side of the column is in the auto position, and the steering wheel still goes through its cycle when the doors is opened and closed. Just no movement from the seat.

The seat still goes through its full range of motions and the memory setting still work. just not when the door opens and closes.

has anyone else run into a similar problem? I don't want to start pulling things apart until i can get a good second opinion. I was thinking maybe it was a loose connection or something like that but could there be a sensor in the door thats bad or perhaps module that controls the seat thats got a glitch?

I can live with out this minor creature comfort but I would rather have it work than not.

any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Take a look at that (short) thread. It has a couple ideas worth exploring.

By the way, are you using this vehicle as a chauffeured car (I'm looking at your alias)? I think it would be great to use it like that in the US! Very distinctive!
