Default El Cheapo Air Struts

Been eyeballing a full set of new Arnott air struts for the XJR. They seem to be the only source of Sport struts.know from experience that comfort will work fine. But much prefer Sport.
Every time I look the are more brands of replacements. Some look like old Arnott with a cone on fronts. Others have a flat top like the rear.
Assume there are one or two factories building all these. Has anyone installed these 200.00 air struts? I asked about warranty from Maxpeedingrods and was told one year. The Arnott cost twice as much. But have a real warranty.

Only time i went cheap on air strut were a brand called CARDONE...they lasted maybe 6 months. Since then, i only use Arnott on the Audi and XJR. Never had an issue with them.

Figured that was the experience with the 200 dollars new air struts. I would trust their 150.00 coil overs more. Less to go wrong.
Cardone and Dorman are marketing replacement. These are most likely the 200 dollar units rebranded and marked up 50%.
A friend Services XJ’s. He only uses Arnott. Said he has never had an issue getting a replacement if needed. But the Bilstein are down to 750.00. Just hearing about shelf life there is troubling. If they Deteriorate on the shelf, what happens on our cars?

I put the maxpeeding rods on the front because i got the car for cheap with one front blown out. i figured keep it cheap,,, they have been fine for me and now i am getting a code for short to ground right rear, so i have ordered the matching cheap rears. The car gets driven in town and at highway speeds, I have had no problems attributable to the cheap fronts. As far as I know the struts on the car were original when I got it.

looking over the cheap ones Maxpeedingrods seemed to be a solid supplier. Update on the rears. Would love to spend a 1000 instead of 2000.

I just replaced all of my struts.

I personally imported them from China
check my post bellow
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/#post2444871

Many of the units available are reconditioned units these where brand new with C.A.T.S system sure a one year warranty as well

I ordered comfort but compared to the old ones they feel like sports

I'm having a couple issues but they are not related to the struts (My first air suspension rebuild)

I should have replaced the one way valves on the top of the shock's and the divider block as the system deflates after a couple of days of no use with no codes showing up

I've tracked down the one way valves also from a OEM supplier and the divider block t

The company that I bought the struts from also make a divider block didn't think when ordering that this component would fail

With hindsight should have just replaced all of those items at the same time(We live to learn)

I also had a single Arnott sport unit in it unbeknownst to me

I'm in Australia though

I've put them up for sale incase someone wants to try recon them have a set to play with

The company I bought the struts from also sell the bags and fittings to repair them

The struts I bought where brand new items and not refurbished as many are anyway up to the individual to make that choice

I'm very happy with my purchases and the car drives amazing

I also installed a BAGPIPINGANDY'S compressor piston ring kit at the same time

Do all four deflate?
Here Amazon has many brands of new Chinese air struts. I have never seen one, but I hear most are all from the same supplier.
Stay away from remanufactured units. The dampers are failing now. The new air bags and o-rings hold air fine, but the dampers are worn out.

Hi I've been product sourcing from China since the late 90's and have a pretty good understanding of their business sense and the pitfalls

Over the years though I've been pleasantly surprised more good than bad the only test will be time of course

The company I sourced from are OEM air suspension strut suppliers

The catalogue is literally a small phone book (LoL)

They've been in business since 05 many TUV accreditations and not a reseller of remanufactured IE just repainted items

They have the cats system that might be a dated system by now but my goodness it must have been something else when these cars first came out I'm impressed

I've organised a deal with them to supply just PM me

When I had my issue with RMT I put a pair of suncore's on while I waited on a set of OEM's. They worked well. Not as soft a ride but not hard either. I think they were a good choice, good price and fair warranty considering. Now I have them as backups.
