An update on this topic, got my hands on a code reader and it is P0442 (evaporative emissions small leak). How can I clear the fault to see if it was just the gas cap?

Mine came on yesterday. I opened the hood (bonnet) and saw the air filter housing wasn't closed properly. I snapped it shut and the light went off. I didn;t realize the sensors were that sensitive!

andy, that particular fault will clear itself, after a number of clean driving cycles. More often than not, the gas cap is not the culprit, so be prepared.

Found out today that you can clear the fault with a code reader! Let's see if it comes back. Great with spanners, useless with computers. Thanks for advise Andy.
