Default engine swap compatibles

In the market for a new motor for my 2005 XJ8. The following is a list of cars that used the same engine;-
  • 2003–2006 Jaguar XK-series 294 hp (219 kW; 298 PS), 303 lb⋅ft (411 N⋅m)
  • 2006–2008 Jaguar XK-series 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS), 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m)
  • 2002–2008 Jaguar S-Type 4.2, 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) and 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m)
  • 2004–2009 Jaguar XJ8, 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) and 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m)
  • 2008–2010 Jaguar XF, 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) and 310 lb⋅ft (420 N⋅m)
Would there be any issues in using a donor from any of the above?

Cheers!

Expect to swap some things around - I dread to think what. Maybe someone will have details.

If your car has VVT, (I believe it does if it is not a S/C engine,) then half your swap battle is over.
You do have to find out if your car has the older Denso ECM or the newer generation ECM
If you have the later ECM then newer engines will almost be a direct swap.
If you have older ECM, then you will have to swap out the newer engine's engine harness for your existing one, along with several of the sensors on the engine, throttle body...
Post the VIn so that others can confirm and look up what ECM your car has.

From my perspective, any newer model year engine should work. You'll have to perhaps swap some of the intake manifold parts to match your specific configuration.
