Error Message "Vehicle Too Low"
I took my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L in for any oil change at my local import service shop. When leaving the error message "Vehicle Too Low" lit on the screen with a red warning light. I took the car back and they ran the computer diagnostics and cleared everything. They couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I was going on a thousand mile trip and couldn't wait. Basically the light comes on at start up and stays on for about a mile and then it goes away. I went back in and they re-checked and can't find any thing wrong that would cause the message. Anyone out there know what causes the message, what it means and what to do about it?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X350 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model. Members here with the same model will be able to help with dynamic suspension issues.

From your description an air strut was damaged while the oil change was performed. Every time the compressor has to reinflate it gets worked. Must have to run intermittently during use.
Do you get the vehicle low every morning? If so, it should be evident which strut is leaking. A scientific method is measure from center of the four fenders to ground after parking. Remeasure again before starting the car.
I burnt up the air compressor in mine a couple times driving it with leaking struts. Best for the this was a Misceller or something close. The POS was so noisy you could hear it running over the radio and exhaust. Plus it had a death rattle when it cut off. 80 mph and you could hear the compressor running. Only lasted a few months before shaking itself to death.
Do not worry about the messages. Once vehicle is at proper height they go away.
The problem appears to be a leaking strut. An extremely too common problem.

If it happens every morning or every few days then yes you could possibly have a leaking air shock. If the only time it happened was after an oil change then I wouldn't worry about it. Could simply be that air was let out automatically while your car was lifted tripping the warning on start up and then went away once the compressor kicked in to refill.

Agree with FreeWifi. I occasionally get the "Car Too Low" or "Suspension Fault" messages, but they go away and don't come back for months. I rebuilt the air compressor, but no improvement in the occasional error messages afterwards. They seem to be more frequent in colder weather, or if the car has been sitting for a few weeks without being used. All part of living with an elderly air suspension system.

Was your car loosing hight level overnight?
I am having a "car too low" message now, after replacing 1 front air strut. car rose fine for 1 week, but than dropped and not rising at all.
so trying to see if you have figured your problem out?

You replaced an air strut that was dropping and vehicle would still drop, but would raise up to normal once car was started? Also, it will not raise up now?
Try getting outside after right starting car. Air compressor is in front of the drivers wheel. See if you can hear it running.
If not running it could be air compressor relay. Cheap and easy to fix. Or air compressor may have failed, not cheap or an easy install.
If air compressor is running but low wheel is not raising either the air strut is leaking so bad it will not pump up. Or air compressor is so worn it is not pumping enough air to lift vehicle. Both are expensive issues.
BTW, what kind of strut was installed; new, used, factory, third party, or rebuild?
i did a diagnostic check today with a new thinkcar 2 plug in with app on iphone
it introduced lots of faults , i managed to clear the codes using an older app for thinkcar saw that the newer app isnt compatible
looked it up on youtube, i purchased the module online from thinkcar for air suspension system $5 and doesent work ??
ile look again tomorrow, prob send the unit back if its not compatible on x350 but does load the jag/LR platform for the car you own..
to be honest its a pain to use its supposed to read the vin but doesernt then u have to add vin manually then u get a list of manufacturers
which doesent mention jaguar landrover and other european cars
really i need real jag/LR system its the only way .
