Exhaust Fumes Smell Inside My XJR - Please advice
Hi
I removed my 2 catalytic convertors through the dealership service department, and did not replacethem to cut down on replacement costs, and also because I'm not yet green enough! Ever since, I can smell very horrible exhaust fumes all over the car. I can't even open the sunroof as the smell rnters through the roof. Neither can I switch on air-recirculation as the fumes somehow become stronger when air-recirc is on than when it is not?
Did the dealership mess up the sealants preventing engine or exhaust smells from entering in the car or what? How can I fix this, other than replacing the Cat convertors?
Thanks in anticipation.

This problem has been found to be caused by damaged/leaking of stainless steel flexible connectors in the exhaust system.
I do not know if you still have the flexibles after removing the cats but if they are leaking it is possible to have them welded.
