Default Failsafe Limp Mode

My wife was on the freeway and all of a sudden the car lost power. The Limp Mode- Fail Safe
with other lights came on. The car never actually died, just no power. I get there and using my
code reader, and there are NO codes. Just the P1000. Started it up and drove home with no issues.
My friend had this same issue several years back. It happened several times over the next few months.
Random with no warning always the same results. He finally sent his Throttle Body in to be rebuilt. No
issues since then. Is there a way to check/test the TB before doing that? I've looked through a bunch of
post on here but all seem to have the P2135 code. Any help much appreciated.

You may have a code your tool didn't show (such as P1582) or pending code(s) other than P1000, but it can also be that the sensor(s) confused the car so much it had to do what it did and didn't know which of potentially many codes to flag.

Bear in mind by law (of USA & many countries) many codes are not allowed to flag (other than pending) unless they occur under similar conditions twice in a row. It's well-meant but can mean you're left wondering.

Also, look at which OBD monitors are not set as they also hint where the problem(s) is/are.

I'd use OBD live data in the hope of getting hints about what's wrong.

It can be a puzzle. I have had the limp mode happen twice since ownership. I just pull over, shut the engine off for 15 seconds and then start it and we are good to go. Just like when you laptop freezes and you reboot it.

Unfortunately having my car "freeze up" on the freeway is slightly more dangerous than my computer freezing up.

All were ready. No pending codes. In the past it has never been shy about codes or pending codes.
It does seem like some people on here have a=had similar experiences with no codes and replacing the
throttle body has fixed the issue. Considering age and miles, it's probably due anyway. Thanks for the info.

P1000 says at least one monitor is NOT ready.
