Finally found my vibration and ahh expensive
hi guys i know i post way to much some times bt i found my vibration i have changed just about everything and last month has an issue with the prop. I took my car to a different ******* to find out if they could spot anything no one else could and they were great went out for drive with me and then let me have a chat with the mechanic. After an hour of waiting get called to the car to find out that my diff is rattling and the drive shafts have gone along with 2 bushes in the subframe.
knocked me back a bit that no one has ever noticed the drive shafts knocking before. I was quoted in queens english 4500 pounds to fix that maybe many of your new american notes.
has a long look online as all seemed lost but i have manged to track down some used parts. Has anyone attempted this on their car to remove the prop subframe and goodies. I would like to do this myself by taking the car off the road for a while as the labour costs are the thing that will kill me getting my car back onto the road.

Wow, that is a chunk in USD!...
Front or rear Bushings for the subframe? I'm a tad confused, have you replaced the prop shaft or not? If not, I'd go ahead and do that as well. Honestly, you'll have to drop the whole subframe anyway, so you might as well replace all of the subframe bushings... this will involve pulling the gas tank out as the primary purpose of that subframe is to hold the diff and gas tank in place....dropping the gas tank out will obviously be a task in itself, drain, remove and secure both pumps via access ports under back seat, disconnect filler neck.....
If you don't need it on the road for a while, it's certainly a job that a reasonably accomplished DIY mechanic can do, nothing crazy technical just a lot of tedious crap.
Make sure to get a full alignment afterwards as well, just lowering the subframe should really necessitate a rear alignment, dropping it and replacing the whole rear end running gear makes it an absolute must.

The bushes hat have gone are the two in the middle of the frame at the back where the bolts go into the back of the diff. I haven't got a new prop as only had it off last month while chasing a noise and found that the bearing had gone this now all makes sence. They did find slight wear on the splines of the prop but said it should be fine. To be honest I had spent so much on this car now including have a respray that I am loosing my will to carry on I could have brought a far never car for the money I have spent on it.
I am weighing up diy or mechanic, I do need the car but can also borrow a car if needed. It's just all one pain in the back side plus point is I got a used diff and drive shafts for a really good price £400 including delivery off a low mileage car. To make things slightly better I mentioned to the guy that I needed a new antenna cable and he gonna throw one in for free when jaguar wanted nee enough £100 for a small wire.
Thanks for the s type part number those cars come in so handy for information as I have found a struggle finding anything for the X350 but s type has information much easier to find.

managed to find the so called unfindable bush according to jaguar so its research like made or spend 800 on a new subframe. I only found the reference of this bush on 2 sites all over the internet one on a russian site that didnt have the part number but had a diagram and it comes under the diff section of parts not the subframe. The other place i found it was on a site but didnt have any more information other than its name and the picture wasnt the best. But i phoned jaguar parts this morning and what do you know they now managed to find my bush the long lost bush is Jaguar S-type Rear Differential Mounting Bush Xr813260 best part only 25 for 2 inclcuing tax.
