Hello. I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ8 and today I noticed that the passenger side low beam is dimmer than the driver's side and that it flickers. The flickering is not huge, like flashing, but more subtle. Even so, it's a bit noticeable. So, my first question is - is it the bulb or could it be something else, like an electrical flow issue?
Secondly, I hadn't thought about it until now, but apparently these cars can have two types of headlamps - HID and standard bulbs, I suppose? Is this correct? How do you tell what type of bulb my car has? If I need to replace it, I will definitely need to know what type of bulb. Sorry for my ignorance on this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the info. I truly appreciate it. This is a shot of my headlight:
Is that HID?
I'll check the ground. However, mine is not flickering that badly at all. It's barely noticeable. Also, the passenger side is also dimmer than the driver's side light.
I had a flickering HID lamp on one side. The lamp unit was faulty, there was a broken contact. I changed both bulbs and no flickering. I had already replaced the behind the headlight grounds before this as a preventative measure. I initially thought it was the ballast that was faulty after reading up on the problem, which is quite pricey, but thought I'd try the bulbs first and got lucky.
