Default Forward Alerts & Adaptive Cruise?

Hi,

I am considering getting an X350/358 as a family car. I have other jags but they are more "garage queens" that are not used as daily drivers. I really like the adaptive cruise and forward alert on my XKR. What year/models of X350/358s have these features?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Nick

I have it on my 2004, Super V8, it was a very expensive option when new , it is common for it to fail, just take a look through the UK and USA forum to see this.
Mine has failed and is way too expensive to replace, the main dealer tried a reconditioned unit to no avail, two specialist electric companies tried to write it out of the system, again no joy.
I constantly have the warning light on the dashboard, in my case I would have much preferred to not now have it fitted to the car.
It was good when it worked but is now a nuisance.

I also have a 04 XJR - luckily mine still works 100%

Great option!

Hi, sounds truly painful! I am glad mine is working and hope it stays that way.

So was this an option on the Super V8 and XJR I am probably after an XJR or Sport or SWB Super V8

thanks
Nick

My Super V8 is a SWB, generally they were really fully loaded cars, I have a brochure from 2004 and when I looked through all the options mine came with the full retail price was around £74000, bear in mind this was in 2004, that would be well over £100k now..
I would expect most Super V8 to have adaptive cruise but maybe not so many XJR cars.

The original title for my 2004 XJR was branded XJR-S I have every factory option available that year, including adaptive cruise control.

I don't know about that, in the UK the x350 shape Jaguar actually came out in early 2003,after being shown to the public at the very end of 2002, my first x350 was a 2003 3.5 engine , I do not think you had the option of the 3.5 in the US.
The LWB car did not appear until 2005 if I remember correctly, it was added to the model range later than the initial launch.
My Super V8 is a SWB and quite rare, I think they only made 900 or so of them, once the vehicle was available as a LWB car they dropped the SWB Super V8 although , obviously, you could still get a SWB in the form of the XJR right up to 2009.

I believe I have upgraded my "standard" XJR to the equivalent of a SWB Super V8.

Seats have contrasting colored ribbing, out of a VandenPlas. Rear entertainment with screens in front headrests. All the bells and whistles with Blue Tooth, VACM. Front and rear object sensors. Adaptive cruise control.

Am I missing anything?

Sounds a good spec, I also have heated and electric ( slightly ) reclining rear seats, garage door opener ( never needed that ), telephone in the centre armrest, heated steering wheel, 16 way memory seats as opposed to the normal 12 way, Sepang Alloys, rear side door window blinds, compass display in the rear view mirror , you can occasionally find these on ebay and I bought mine and fitted it myself, all the wiring was in place.
not sure what else I can think of at the moment but this may give you a few ideas for more additions to your XJR.

Side door blinds, telephone in center console, and compass in rear view mirror I do not have.

I would like the compass so will look for that.

Edit: Found one on Ebay and purchased. Hope I have the wiring as you did.

You have to unclip the original mirror, it takes a bit of force and you think you are going to break it !.
Once you clip the replacement one back on, it takes a bit of a bang to make it snap into place. You will then need to calibrate it, this is the fun bit.
It actually tells you in the handbook how to do it, if I remember correctly the display in the mirror show " C ", cant remember if you have to push a button on the underside first or not. Then you have to keep driving round in a circle at no more than 10mph or thereabouts until eventually the car locates which direction is North etc.
The display will then show the correct heading.

I went out late at night to do this and found a large suitable space to drive round and round, I did not want anyone to see me doing it as they would have thought " what on earth is that idiot doing " hahaha.
All the best and enjoy your car with the new compass !

My Adaptive Cruise apparently just quit this morning on my newly acquired 2006 Super V8 Portfolio. It was working at the beginning of the day. I dropped the car to get a new FOB programmed. That was fine, but lost the cruise control.

Scan for codes. Check fuse(s)

Replacement units are uber expensive and cruise will not work if adaptive is not working.

+1 on what abonano stated.

Did you have the key fob programmed at a dealer?

Wonder if they inadvertently did something that caused the issue.

I had an auto locksmith program the new FOB (at less than half the price of the dealer). I called him & he assured me the FOB & cruise control were apples & oranges. But, he said he may have hit the separate adaptive cruise button by mistake when programming. I didn't check it when I tried to get the adaptive cruise to work from the steering wheel buttons yesterday. Does the separate button have to be on for it to work? Will check when I get home to the car.
