front caliper rebuild
Anyone know if there's a good quality caliper rebuild kit for the non-Brembo brakes? I looked at ATE's web site, but they don't know anything for the x350.
I noticed my front left wheel accumulates way more brake dust than the other, and the caliper itself has been discolored (rusty) since I got the car (10 years ago). It's definitely not sticking full time, maybe only under certain conditions. No discoloration on the rotor.

You could check RockAuto or your local auto store for parts. I have used Centric and BrakeBest before and have been happy with the quality. If it were me with non brembo brakes I would just replace the whole caliper. It has to come out anyway to rebuild it. Having rebuilt calipers, it can sometimes be a pain to get the pistons out or the new dust shields back on. However, the price savings is decent.
But if you do decide to rebuild, I would probably do both the fronts. Parts are dirt cheap and you will have to do a partial bleed anyway.

it’s like $1 on rock auto. or you can buy the genuine stuff for 10 times the price

Thanks, that link helps. I've since found Jaguar sells the seal/boot kit under C2C27274 for $50+. I did see the $1 kit on Rockauto, but I'll pass on that unless it comes from ATE. One thing I would like but haven't found is the piston itself. Will check the pad wear and slide pins before I do anything else. Nothing has indicated this side is sticking regularly--no pulling, no overheating pads, bearing, etc. But it most definitely accumulating more dust and for whatever reason has a rusty caliper while the others all still have the OE silver coating.
