Default Front Parking Aid Sensor Mounting Adhesive - Alternative?

So one of my front parking aid sensors has separated from the bumper. It is still connected inside the bumper but must be reattached. Looking at the Workshop manual it states that it must be attached with "3M adhesive DP8005. a 3M EPX applicator and an orange 10:1 ratio applicator nozzle." A quick look around the internet reveals a cost of approx. 145.00 USD for this adhesive, applicator and nozzle. Has anyone have any success with an alternative? - Help is appreciated.

Hi Marc,

I haven't had to make that repair myself, but out of curiosity I just googled 3M DP8005 and it's a 2-part adhesive for structurally bonding polyolefin plastics without surface treatment. My interpretation is that this tells us the type of plastic our bumper covers and parking sensor housings are made of, and that bonding these plastics requires a special adhesive:

3M? Scotch-Weld? Structural Plastic Adhesive DP8005

Here's one link I found offering a pack of 12 tubes for USD $26.48:

You might also search for "bumper cover adhesive," "bumper cover repair," or "polyolefin adhesive" for possible alternative adhesives.

I hope someone else responds who has direct experience with this repair.

Cheers,

Don

I just stuck the housing of the right front sensor back into the bumper (with the bumper off), I used a UHU Hot Melt Glue gun to run a bead of melted glue around the housing, it'll hold...
