Hello all, I'm having issues with my 2004 X350 transmission. It was shifting very hard and making a metalic sounding thud when shifting at freeway speeds.
I took it in and had the service done, fluid and filter change along with re-flashing the TMC. Now i'm getting a gearbox fault message on the dash.

Help please.

Does the car drive and shift? Did you remove the codes?

 

Yes and Yes

 

Was fluid level checked properly at 40 deg C with car level?

Additionally, what software version did you use to reflash the TCM? Also, were adaptations cleared? PCM reflashed??

There should be code(s) in the TCM, pull them and post here.

 

Don't know the answers.......I took it to an indy shop for the service. I will ask them to answer your questions on Monday when they are open for service.

 

Just wanted to post that I had two times where the dash message read "Gearbox Fault" so I'm having the transmission rebuilt from top to bottom at a local shop.
