Great Experience with Select Warranty
About a week ago I dropped my 2005 VDP off for an oil change. It now has 77K miles on it. I bought this car March 2009 and it had 22K on it. It was barely still under the original warranty and I added the extra 4 years select warranty on top to get me covered till March 2013 or 100K miles.
The car has been the best I owned so far. This is my 3rd Jaguar. The first two were S-Types I bought new. When I found the deal on the VDP I had to get it. I paid about $28K total including warranty and taxes.
A lot of folks post about bad experiences. I have had nothing but good ones with the SE warranty coverage and had a great one today. I felt like I needed to share.
When I dropped it off I told the service writer I had a list of stuff I wanted him to check out and replace under warranty. I have a good understanding of what should be covered. I read the agreement carefully.
So I left the car with faith in my dealer to get it sorted. Well they did not let me down.
I picked the car up today with
Total bill was $4743. I paid only $87 for the oil change. Warranty covered the rest.
The car rides better than when I got it at 22K miles. It feels like a new car. It already looked like a new car. So now I am pretending I got a new car.
I am blown away by the level of service and coverage I received.
In years prior warranty had already covered throttle body and torque converter.
This car will last me forever now.
My dealer is Jaguar of Tampa.

- The gas struts that hold up the hood were not doing their job anymore.
- The CD changer can't always find CDs in the cartridge.
- The rear window shade sticks when retracted and the mesh wads up in the back window area.
- And lately the car has just felt sloppy and loose in the handling, rougher riding too. I also could see a few of the joint rubber covers were cracking.
So I left the car with faith in my dealer to get it sorted. Well they did not let me down.
I picked the car up today with
- basically a completely new suspension (front/rear upper/lower wishbones, stabilizing links, anti roll bar links, ball joints, stabilizer bar link, upper control arms)
- new hood struts
- rear shade is new
- CD player is new

Rothwell, I for one and many others will be glad to see your post.
It really is a refreshing change to hear of someone so completely satisfied with their dealer and the extended warranty programme.
Thanks so much for posting
Thanks for sharing......Frankly, it was nice to hear about your experience. I will never buy a car without an exteneded warranty again. I think it more than paid for itself already in your situation.
Great VDP by the way!

Thanks for this report rothwell! We just don't usually hear about the good experiences; and frankly, I know there are many. I know the Jaguar Select warranty is one of the best in the business, and most of the consumer outfits agree.
You enjoy your "new" XJ!
Cheers,

An update...
I wnet back to the warranty trough one last time before it runs out.
Got another bushing replaced that I noticed they missed and got the trunk lifts replace since they were getting weak and could barely lift the trunk when the temps hit the bone chilling 40F here in Tampa.
