Default Hearing Aid Interference

My passenger comlpained about receiving interference on his hearing in my 06 Super 8 while the ignition is on and also while the engine is running. It dissapears when he positions himself all the way back in the seat.
Does it only happen in my cat or others have experienced this condition.

Maybe this qualifies for a mass recall!

I wear them all of the time in my 05 Super V8. I don't have an issue.

Hi mberman,

My wife complains of interference with her iPhone 4 when she is sitting in the passenger seat of our '04 XJR and the engine is running. I've tried turning off the climate control system and radio with no improvement. She says she can hear a pulsing noise in her phone, but people she is talking with on the phone say that on their end the noise is very loud.

I assume it is electro-magnetic interference (EMI) of some kind, but I haven't begun to seriously try to track down the offending circuit by pulling fuses until it goes away.

I'll be curious to see if others are also experiencing this issue.

Cheers,

Don

My passenger also described it as pulsing too.

Maybe it has something to do with in IF sensors for the passenger side front air bag which is located in the overhead console?

There was a thread in the XK8 section not long ago about the ultrasonic sensors and hearing aid interference.

Seems that the sensors do not play well with digital noise canceling, in hearing aides and phones.

Does the x350 use a similar system?

Yes, the problem is the sensors for the passenger side airbags. You see them in the piller and roof (little round slotted "vent" looking things). These mess with hearing aids as well as some phones and cause "clicking" in the audio of these devices. My dad says it is pretty bad in his hearing aid. My 2004 Vanden Plas has the issue and I assume all of this model (XJ) do as well.
