Default hello- new x350 owner here; needs help..please..

gents,

i recently was taken on a long distance purchase (a 2005 XJR) ...yes, a pre-buy inspect was done but i suspect some collusion with the "hole in wall" dealer...
it is on me because, clearly, insufficient due diligence.
a point here is it came with MANY issues and was very abused before me.
i was very IMPRESSED with the heart of this beast in that as ragged out, poorly maintained and with hidden damage...she made a 1159 mile, straight thru drive back to texas.
let me share...AFTER paying (long distance) and getting the title.. i see (on the back) it was sitting for well over a year and half...i flew into tampa florida to lay first eyes on something far worse than represented...first thought was OMGosh, what have i done to myself... (
so...no doubt ancient fuel on the empty tank..oil leaks of some kind dripping and all over the bottom.. the "great condition, low miles" tires were worn smooth on the front insides...several more things to bore you with... so, i say to my (sick) self..."STAY POSITIVE" .. take this rotten lemon and.. MAKE LEMONAID !! worst case is my own "Vise Grip Garage" adventure.
Tito's Tire Shop flips the fronts on the Sepang rims, top the oil, tons of Seafoam and Marvel into a full tank, check the coolant tank (yes, someone mixed types of antifreeze), PRAYERS TO THE LORD FOR BLESSINGS on the journey and off we go....and go...and go and go....
a "NON STOP" drive...ie..fuel up and additives, check fluids, check raging wear on front tires, personal body drain, coffee and go !!..into the nite, the rain, the fog.. slip sliding away...
no radio..it too inop (anutha lie)...the only sounds being the road, bad tires, moans and groans of the damaged exhaust (at the engine downpipes?)and the heartbeat of the supercharger...growl....17+ hours...
i kept waiting for her to lay down then i'd sleep and go from there in the daylite....
...."no" she said.. "I'VE BEEN WAITING...too long"... it was not going to happen.. it was not in her soul to quite.
one of the many thoughts early on during my drive was "ok, do a little work then sell it with a big loss" "lesson learned and keep waiting for the right one"..or "maybe block it up and make it a spare parts car"..
MY POINT IN THIS LONG WINDED SHARE !?!?!???
THIS WRECKED, BEAT TO HELL, RATTLING, CLUNKING,CREAKING, BANGING, HARD ABUSED "TRAMP" "BEAST" "THOROUGHBRED STEAD" RAN 80 surge 90 MPH !!!!!
for the entire nights drive.
she never once belched, farted or complained.
I pulled into the driveway somewhere around 0700ish hrs,. I let her idle for about 5 minutes as i unloaded then shut her down, locked the doors, went in and slept...
Somewhere around 6 or so hours later i went out to post-flight (stare and whine to myself) and found a rather large and mixed pool of fluids running out from under the front end. examination determined the tri-hex-a of coolant, oil and i believe power steering fluid.
let me take a moment here to share that it was at about the 3/4 way point of the drive when i started to think she might not be willing to go down...
I put a rub on the dash and told her "if ya just get us there.."
so..as i stood there staring at the pool of blood and guts on the ground...the now smooth, completely bald front tires (literally, not another mile to be trusted to them) that look like drag slicks and the bonnet paint that looks like the work of a second grade kid with a sponge... i remembered... simultaneously, a realization of the feat that this shot to hell purebred had just accomplished.......I am a man of my word......she won't be going anywhere.
She will soon be parked next to my XKRFACE ('05 XKR conv) in the toy room/stable...
the morning of the 30th was arrival home.. yesterday, the 1st she went onto the ramps and tear down began...
the engine is caked all over with years of sludge, grime, filth and leakage...buildup.
water pump is leaking.. pan gasket is leaking..i think the front seal on the power steering pump (something in that area) is leaking and has been slinging fluid..a long time.
Questions:
1) is a pwr str pump leak common and what do i do about it ? is it possible to replace the front shaft seal on the car?
2) i cannot find the s/c tensioner or idle pulley parts (all acc drive parts at rockauto) can someone share some part numbers ?
3) what should the s/c feel and sound like when i spin it back and forth by hand ?

i gotta find a name for this ride...

the gents on the x100 forum are awesome and, from my reading, you folks are kindred spirits.
i thank any and all in advance for sharing your time and experience.

kind regards and standing by,

max, XKRFACE and TRAMP ?

Rescued an abandoned young cat several years ago.
We brought her home on my Gold Wing motorcycle.
Great cat, called her Winger, had her for 17 years.
Buried her last summer, we miss her a lot.
Rescues do remember & appreciate being rescued, from a bad situation.

a large pile of parts are inbound... beck/arnley pump is the first to arrive.
when the engine bay stuff is done then she will go up on the quikjacks to do a complete front end rebuild.. then rear end rebuild.
i am considering making her my "rat rod" and go full on with performance upgrades, exhaust..etc.
i hav epicked up a quaife for the xkr and am wondering if there is a posi-trac of some kind to be had for this xJr ?

i am thinking about a few videos and pics and the start of a new youtube channel solely for jaguars..
your thoughts gentlemen ?

every time i look at her in the driveway i smile ))

max

Default Part numbers and more

MaxTorq, these are the numbers for pulleys and idlers. HOWEVER, there was a TSB that changed the original parts on the 04. These may be the upgraded part numbers.
First, you should get a subscription to alldatadiy for your car. Often lists part numbers, but TSBs as well which have great info as above.
Looks like I can only load one attachment at a time, so a parts list is below. I'll follow up with workshop manual and SNG Barratt parts list too if I can. There is a ton of hidden info out there for these cars.

C2C22786 46.24 brkt pump m
C2C36146 105.65 drive belt tensioner
C2C37063 38.95 serp belt
C2C37064 58.44 serp idler flanged
C2C37055 56.65 s.c belt
C2C37056 43.76 s/c pulley brkt
C2C37057 99.69 s/c belt tensioner
C2S46862 93.2 grooved idler
542.58

Can't seem to attach any more files at the moment. https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/English/Downloads
You can find the SNG Barratt catalog at the link, the X350 of course.
https://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/...Jaguar/XJ/X350
You can find the service manual above.
If you have other questions, I'll help if I can. I have tons of info on the XJR and replaced the entire suspension, plus many other parts. Just replaced the diff on the 09 Super V8. What a party that was.
Good luck. Probably nothing you can't fix on her.
