Default Help please! single sided S/C tensioner + S/C idler pulley part. no.?

Hi there,

Does anybody know where to get the single sided supercharger idler pulley, and tensioner? I have a terrible squeak which has accentuated in the last couple of months. When I changed my S/C belt, the mechanic pointed out the idler was on its way out, I can now confirm this is the case.

I went to rockauto, all they have is for the serpentine belt. Aren't there any compatible parts from the likes of Goodyear, or Dayco, or whatever? I do not want to convert to the double sided system Jag currently uses.

Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for your speedy responses! I do have a couple of things I don't understand...

NBCat, is that the code for the single sided belt tensioner? When I searched online, it said double sided. Or is it that it is of no consequence, since anyway the grooved side touches the pulley?

clifton94, I can't find a bearing with that code, the shop I went to told me thay have no record of it. Tried several places. Also tried google, nothing. I tried to school myself on the subject, but the standard denominations are quite different, e.g. 6010 instead of what you said. Could you please help me with that?

Here is the image from JEPC; tensioner is item number 4 in image; idler pulley is item 2.

Not sure what you mean by 'double sided'.

The new type belt supplied by jag has grooves on both sides but you have to fit the new kit before using the new type belt. The bearing I have photographed fits the idler number 2

For the supercharger drive belt system on the 4.2 litre AJ-V8, the part numbers are:

C2C37057 - tensioner assembly

C2S46862 - idler pulley

C2C37055 - drive belt

Always provide the Jaguar dealership, or other parts house with the VIN to ensure the correct parts are sourced as there may be parts that have been superseded.

If the belt has indeed been superseded, then yes, associated parts must be changed.

When a part is superseded, there is usually a reason such as cost, lack of supply or improved performance.

They were superseded over in the UK as owners were having problems with them slipping when started from cold but if you fitted a gatorback belt made by good year it seemed to stop the slipping

The single sided belt to double sided belt running change/tsb action
was first encountered in the X308/X100 with the 4.0L supercharged
engines. The double sided is completely inconvenient because the
belt is only available from Jaguar.

So, look here for the bearing numbers as they are likely the same:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-65171/

Be warned that the bolt on one of the bearings is left hand thread.
I forget which. If you try to undo it in the usual direction and try
hard enough, you will snap the bolt.

All four bearings can be had for $20 as they are popular sizes used
in a lot of applications. As a matter of fact, they can be bought at
NAPA.

I did my research, went to all the shops, looked online for the bearing, nothing.

Clifton94, could you please post a link as to where I could buy the bearing? All the shops said they never heard of that bearing, and that it might be some special variety. I suspect the only place would be America, and that I'd pay $100 in shipping and taxes for a $2 bearing... I sooo hope the tax union between EU & US is instated sometime soon!...

My car squeaks like hell, and it's certain I can't install Andre's TS kit when it arrives in August. I have the Gates belt, so belt is ruled out as the problem.

Hope I'll get through with it.

NBCat, thanks, I think I am clear now.

Also Plums, I will look into that, I'll order those codes and see if they fit.

Thank you all

Yup,
found them, ordered them from the site.

Thanks a bunch guys! I just hope they're the same as with the X308s.

Will report back.
